This morning marks the beginning of day 30 for us. We have officially been on the road for a month and I must say we are lovin' every minute of it. When I think back to the beginning of the trip it feels like forever ago and I have to go back and read my own blogs to remember what we were doing. It does get a little hard sometimes because we miss the kids, our family and friends but luckily we have the internet and cell phones to help us keep in touch almost daily. Tim and I were just talking yesterday about how very blessed we are to be livin' the American dream at such a young age. We are so thankful for this incredible opportunity and never take it for granted, not even for a minute. Well, we were up and at 'em this morning and ready to face a new day. It was time to say good-bye to Idaho Falls and make our way to the Wyoming state line. Yep, another day, another state !! After breakfast, we cleaned up the house a little bit and then jumped on Highway 26 headed for Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I
had heard so many wonderful things from friends and family about Jackson Hole and I was really excited to see what all the fuss was about. Tim had been before as a young adult with his parents but he was excited to see all the changes and stuff too. On the 36 mile drive over, Tim spotted something on the side of the road. He thought for sure it was a black bear so we turned around and went back to see. Ummmm......it definitely wasn't a black bear, instead what we found was a big black dead moose !! Oh well, I'm sure there's another bear somewhere in Tim's future but this was not it for sure. We continued on our route until we saw the sign "Welcome To Jackson". I was finally here, after years and years of listening to awesome stories about Jackson Hole, I couldn't believe I made it. To make things even better, they had a parking lot right off the town square designated just for motorhomes. It was great !! We didn't have to drive around wasting tons of gas and time just to find a parking spot mile away. We parked right away and
began walking into to town. The town was absolutely packed out with tourists and they were spending money left and right. Of course we jumped right in there with them and bought a few t-shirts and things for ourselves. My brother Anthony had told us about The Million Dollar bar where they have horse saddles as the bar stools so we made over to check it out. Well, he was right, sure enough, if you want to sit at the bar you're gonna have to sit on a horse saddle !! It was a really cool concept but my goodness it was not comfortable at all. We took a few pictures and then headed across the street to the Town Square Tavern to get some lunch. We went up stairs and ate on the outdoor balcony so we could people watch and get a better view of the town. We sat there and enjoyed our lunch while watching the horse and buggy give sight seeing rides throughout the square. Our food was delicious but time was passing us by so we finished up and headed back downstairs and out the door. Another place we had heard about was the Silver
Dollar Bar so we located it and made our way over to check it out. It was another really cool place to see. The bartop was awesome and literally had tons of real silver dollars imbedded into it. Well, this place was definitely living up to it's reputation. We walked around for hours, meandering in and out of all the novelty shops, periodically stopping for pictures here and there. We had to get a picture with one of the four famous elk arches so we crossed the street and looked for the one with the shortest line. Yep, there were so many people in Jackson Hole today we had to wait in line just to get our picture made under the elk arch. We finished up our little tour of the town, grabbed a fresh coconut ice cream cone and watched the local theatre group do a mock shoot-out on the square. We had spent hours in Jackson Hole and we were worn out so we passed on the white water rafting and horseback riding today and decided to make our way back to the motorhome. We had reservations at the Grand Teton Park RV Resort over in Moran, Wyoming
so we needed to start making our way there. On the drive over we stopped by the National Elk Refuge and said hello to a few friendly elk and then headed towards the Grand Tetons National Park. Tim drove us through Grand Teton where we spotted several deer and buffalo and that was pretty neat. You know we're all about seeing some wildlife !! We eventually located the Grand Teton Park RV Resort and checked in just in time for a sunset bike ride through the park. It was absolutely stunning as you can imagine the beautiful reds, yellows and oranges that lit up the sky as the sun fell below the beautiful snow capped mountains. We were on bikes and I didn't have my camera so I missed the perfect photo opportunity but that's okay, we'll always have that memory in our minds to look back on. We rode back to campsite number 130 where we preceeded to grill some brats for dinner. I cooked while Tim piddled around tinkering on the motorhome. It seems like there's always something to fix on Big Bertha but Tim does such a great job keeping her in tip-top shape. Tomorrow is going
to be a big day for us in Yellowstone so we cleaned up everything and headed to bed. It was a really cool night so we planned on sleeping with the windows open again. I'm so excited about seeing Yellowstone tomorrow............I sure hope Tim gets to see another bear !! :-)
