Lpaw i have to thank my sweetie, Doug for helping me make this trip happen. i had been comtemplating what to do during a memorial day weekend. i knew i was longing to go to somewhere new, somewhere i will have to venture out to get there. Great Smoky Mountains Nat'l Park came to my mind. i thought it wasn't doable for a 3 day trip. google said it's 8 hour drive. i almost gave up the idea. i talked to Doug if he wanted to go on a trip i told him about a long drive. he said it would not take him that long and definitely it was doable. i was so joyful and happy.
we left sterling, va on friday at 8 pm. Doug likes to do a night drive to avoid some traffic. it was still fairly busy up until close to mid night. our most pleasant drive was after midnight. we got to Pigeon Forge, TN at 2:30 am. yep, 2:30 am guess everything would be dark at around this time...nooooo .on both sides of the road were moving neon signs flashing everywhere trying to get our attention. from an entertainment places to typical restaurants and to regular hotels, it's practically everywhere. Doug said with a sarcarsm in his voice that it appears as if moving neon signs are required for them to have a business here.
we were very tired and sleepy so see you tomorrow.
