As we were now half way through the trip most people were starting to run out of clean clothes to wear so it was decided that we needed to have a laundry day. Initially we were going to use the facilities at the hotel but after some advice from the main desk we were advised to head to a proper launderette. It turns out that the process was a little more confusing than first expected and we needed the help of the person running the launderette, it was pretty pricey to get everything we needed as well! When it came to the drying we thought one dryer would be enough however, it was nowhere enough and we needed 6 dryers going to finally dry all the clothes.
Once all the laundry was done everyone else wanted to head back to the hotel to sort everything out I decided to stay in the village to get some photos of the area before meeting back up with everyone else. After a quick stop off in the local shop to buy some beer for Michael and some local maple mustard for Mum we headed into the whip bar and grill for
some lunch. As it was restaurant week in Stowe I decided to order from that particular menu which was 3 courses. I assumed that each course would be quite small and easily managed however, this was not the case. The first course was a massive salad followed by a pulled pork sandwich for the main course and after finishing both of those I was already starting to feel pretty full. Foolishly I ordered the bread pudding for the final course which regrettably I could not finish and had to leave some much to the disappointment of Harv.
After a brief stop off at the hotel, I needed a bit of a lie down after the food, we headed to the Alchemist brewery which I had read about before coming and was supposed to be excellent beer. The brewery was only a 10 minute walk up the road from the hotel which was really handy so no-one had to worry about driving to get there. The Alchemist used to be a pub but due to the popularity the pub was not big enough to sustain the demand so they had to close this down and open up a
bigger brewery. They had 3 beers available to try and my favorite was The Crusher followed by the Heady Topper but I was not such a fan of the third beer. They were both extremely potent with The Crusher hitting 10%! While tasting the beers Alex and I started talking to an American family who were on holiday who advised us of a really good place to get a Cheese steak in Philadelphia. They also advised us that the local way of ordering a cheese steak was to ask for a 'Wiz with' and not to just ask for a cheese steak!
After the brewery we went back to Ideltyme and spend the rest of the evening at the bar. We had a really good waitress who took money off the bill and gave us some free beer. She also has comment of the night when Harv asked what the popcorn was like and she replied 'stale' which gave everyone a good laugh. As the bar had TV we were also able to watch a basketball game while we were in there; sadly as it was the middle of the week the pub was only open until half 10 so we had to go back to the hotel. San Antonio were playing Golden State later on that night and both Grant and Harv wanted to watch the game so Jack and Jake came into our room for the night.
