We landed at 10:30pm.
Called a Ubber Driver to pick us up and take us to the AA academy to get our Camry. Brad Meeder had left the keys in his folder, and Loyal had gotten the keys from the folder and had re parked it outside and across from the Smith Museum.
We had a good experience of the Ubber. It only cost us 12.00 to get to our Camry.
While driving home, we stopped at Jack in the Box for 2 tacos.
Once we got to 9511, we unloaded the suitcases and then tried to "wind down" a little.
We didn't turn the light out until 2am.
Sunday morning, Dad woke us up at 8:15. We needed to be at NBC for the 9am service - World Passion Week. And believe it or not - we made it! Yeah.
It was a rough 30 hours of traveling. 12 hour flight from Auckland to San Francisco and then to be rerouted to Nashville, TN, then Houston, then to DFW. We could handle it. We had been on the "slow boat from China" for the past 30 days.
We left Auckland, New Zealand at 3:10pm on Saturday afternoon, and we arrived into San Francisco at 7am on
Saturday morning. So we arrived in California before we left. Go figure that out.
This has been the most unusual Cruise we have ever taken. Not what Glenn and I expected, yet we are grateful for the time to get away, to experience new cultures, meet new friends and connect with each other.
TO REPOST
In summary, this trip has been a dream come true and also the most
unusual trip at that. To sum up our 1 month sabbatical would be
- all the new friends we have met
· all the new places we have explored
· seeing the rice terraces in Bali
· attending an English church in Hong Kong
· navigating through the massive transit system in Hong Kong and not getting lost
· witnessing "mutiny on the bounty" for our first cruise from Hong Kong to Sydney
· having lots and lots of SEA DAYS
· going to Vietnam
· having the NCL Star's propulsion engines stopping and having to be
pulled by 1 huge tug boat from the Tasman sea back to Melbourne
· Seeing Koala and Kangaroos
· Walking through the Singapore Botanical Gardens and seeing beautiful orchids
· Eating and eating and eating
· Enjoying quiet time of cross stitching and reading
· Seeing a rain forest and beautiful waterfalls
· getting a full refund on both cruises
· not seeing New Zealand but being promised that we'll come back and try again
I am thankful for the time to be able to cruise to SouthEast Asia. My whole goal was to go to New Zealand. This place has been on my "bucket list" since forever. We had the added bonus of traveling to Hong Kong, to Singapore, Bali and Sydney, Australia to name a few places. Since the NCL Star was heading to New Zealand on only 1 engine, our ports of
call got changed many times til finally we broke down in the Tasman sea and had to be rescued by a tug boat. We arrive in Auckland just enough time to head to the airport and catch our flight back to the USA.
I still have New Zealand on my Bucket List.
We are not tourist, we are travelers. This has been an adventure. It has been a journey I
am thankful for and a trip I will never forget.
I am posting some of my favorite pictures from this incredible TRIP. Enjoy I just spent several hours going through my photos and posting them again here. I plan to put this particular Travelpod Blog into a book format - thus why I uploaded these additional photos on this last entry.
