You Better Save This One !!
I don't think you'll see this again !! After the long drive yesterday, that took us into the wee hours of the morning, we decided to sleep-in this morning ! We thought "why not" it's not like we're in a big hurry to get anywhere and I don't think the Wal-Mart police were going to run us off anytime soon. Although the kids, the dog and Mike (Porkchop) were growing a little weary back at home, we assured them that we were on the home-stretch and it wouldn't be much longer. We had sent them some money for groceries a couple of days ago so we knew they weren't gonna go hungry or anything and we thought we had better enjoy what precious little time we had left !! We rolled out of bed sometime around noon and began the daily rituals of bathing, dressing and packing up so we could get back on the road. It has been a month since we have seen any family or friends and we were really excited about spending the day with our close friends Charles and Ginger. Even though there would be no golf for the boys and no bingo for the girls, we would at least get to see some
Papa and Grace !!
This is our friend Charles with is grand-daughter Grace in Austin, Texas. familiar faces and have some quality catch-up time with our friends. Before we headed out of town, we wanted to see the town of Fredericksburg during the day. It was about 3:00 a.m. when we strolled through this morning but we both thought it was a neat looking place and we wanted to check it out. I read about the beginning of the town in Lynn's book and it's actually a German town kinda like Helen. It was full of little specialty shops, bed and breakfasts and restaurants and all the buildings have a very distinct look to them. All the locals said the best time to visit was during Oktoberfest when all the festivities were going on and I'm sure they are right. Time was passing by quickly so we had to head on out and get on the road to Austin where Charles and Ginger were staying for the week babysitting their grand-daughter Grace. The hour and a half drive over wasn't bad at all and we were in Brooke's driveway before we knew it. Charles and Ginger must have heard us coming because they were already at the door by the time we got parked and out

Ginger was quick to say how impressed she was with our accommodations and with the fact that I was having so much fun crossing the country living in a motor home. I told her it was definitely different the first week or so, but once you get the hang of it, it's actually lots of fun. There is no doubt that it's been an adventure of a lifetime. No reservations, no deadlines, no schedules and the best part is not ever knowing what tiny little town you may end up sleeping in for the night. We had to wrap up the tour and make our way inside because baby Grace was taking a nap and we didn't want her to wake up without anyone there. We sat in the living room of Brooke's house and talked for a while as we waited for Grace to wake up. Tim borrowed Ginger's computer so he could check his Nascar picks and his emails while the rest of us caught up on what's been going on for the
Tim & Ginger !
Tim and Ginger in Austin getting ready to leave for a late lunch ! last month. A little while later, Tim and I both said to each other that it felt really weird being in a "real house" after living in the motor home for a month. We talked about what it was going to be like once we got back home in our own house and stuff and I think for the first time we really started to miss it. Well, that feeling only lasted for a few minutes !! Soon we heard a little voice coming from Grace's room and not a moment too soon. We were all very hungry so Ginger got Ms. Grace ready to go and we headed off into downtown Austin, Texas to have some Italian cuisine. Charles and Ginger had been to this restaurant a couple of times before, while visiting Brooke and Michael, and they thought that we would enjoy it. They were right, Tim devoured his lasagna with garlic toast and I thoroughly enjoyed my spaghetti with sausage. We just couldn't resist, so all four of us had desert and it was scrumptious !! After dinner we drove through Austin and back to the house where we continued our talks and waited for Michael and

Tim burning up the wireless internet at Brooke and Michaels in Austin ! Brooke to return from Miami. It was getting a little late, so by the time they made it back around 7:45 p.m., we only had a few minutes to see them and then we had to start making our way down to San Antonio. We all hugged and said our good-byes and then Tim and I were on the road again. We headed down the road and I looked at Tim and said, "I have two things to say about Austin, Texas, it was great seeing our friends and Austin is one HOT place in the middle of July !!" I never saw the temperature anywhere but I can tell you that it felt like a very dry scorching 115 degrees in this town !! We had the generator going and all the air conditioning we could and we still couldn't get cooled off, our only hope was for the sun to set and hopefully we would get some relief. On our way to San Antonio, we had to stop at a camp ground to re-fill our water tank and dump all the waste. We finally came upon a KOA and Tim gets the bright idea that it's time to
Heading Out For Lunch !
Me, Grace and Ginger leaving for a late lunch (early dinner) in downtown Austin. teach me how to do all this stuff. Of course, the entire time I'm putting on rubber gloves, I am giving him this look like he has lost his mind and I'm mumbling a few things under my breath !!! He proceeded to show me out the door and around the motor home where he opens the outside doors and all these tubes and hoses and stuff start falling out all over the place. He then teaches me, step-by-step (like I'm going to remember), how to fill up the water tank, dump the gray water, wash out the toilets and dump the other water and plug into the plug thingy and all that stuff. It's not that hard or complicated, but it is time consuming and I made sure to tell him how much I appreciated him doing all of it during the trip and I also told him what a great job he was doing. Now hopefully that's over with and he won't ever make me do it again !!! Our friends, Leanne and Jesse, were waiting for us in San Antonio so we were trying to make our way there tonight so we could stay at their place.
I Love My Gigi !!
Ginger and Grace in downtown Austin ! But after my dumping lessons, by the time we made it into San Antonio it was too late so we just stayed in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Leanne and I have been friends since kindergarten (33 years) and we've only seen each other twice in the last twenty years !! I'm so excited to see my dear friend Leanne and to finally meet her husband Jesse. I can't wait until tomorrow !!!
