Located on Monument Road which is town. Admission charged
Ponca City is about 15 miles east of Interstate 35 and in my opinion is well worth the drive off the mail road. The first thing you will note upon entering Ponce City is the massive occupation of Continental Oil Refinery. CONOO also contain Phillips 66. There is a museum across the road form the corporate office and entry is free. After passing through town there is the E.W.Marland Estate which Marland built in 1925. It is operated by the city and can bed toured for a small fee. Next door is a school that is part of the old estate. Marland was an oilman and former governor. Just at the limits of downtown is the Marland Grand Home where Marland lived with his first wife. It is open Tuesday thru Saturday and there is a small fee.The town is full of city parks. The Ponca Theater is on East Grand Avenue and is a beautifully restored downtown theater. The Pioneer Woman Museum & Statute is just a short distance from the Marland Estate. Don’t miss a great piece of well maintained architecture in the old City Hall and Centennial Plaza. There are several murals located through the business district. The Gordon Matzene
Where Marland lived with his first wife. Marland was an Oklahoma Governor
Art Collection is located on East Grand. The First Council Casino is located just north of Newkirk, OK which is about 10 minutes from Ponca City. The casino has an attached hotel plus over 1000 slot machines. There are other casinos in the Ponce City area. The small town is host to an number of annual events including the fine Arts Festival, Downtown Halloween Carnival and the Ponce City Herb Festival. I have only listed a few of the many activities. For a town of this size the parks, historical buildings and festivals are amazing.
