The first sight of millions of immigrants - a good way to start the photo slide I think
What can you say? We were never too fussed on visiting the States, but New York was fun! We ended up extending our stay by a couple of days making it a full week. There is just way too much to do!

A big highlight for me was going to the shows. We saw Stomp one night - getting half price tickets from the ticket booths is a definite plus - and then we saw Avenue Q another night. That was a real bonus as we got lottery tickets. You arrive at the venue about an hour before the show and put your name in a hat. If its drawn you get front row seats and only pay about $20! As usual, Evan was the lucky one out of our team and we scored tickets!

For such a big place too it was very wierd to run into a friend from Perth. Made for a nice day though as the 4 of us had lunch and wandered around together before all seeing Avenue Q that night (they also managed to win tickets!).

We did all the traditional touristy things - Liberty Island, taking in the view from the top of the Empire State Building, walking down fifth avenue, and of course - shopping! I did a bit too much of that actually - more postage home. But who can blame me? It was so cheap compared to some of the prices I remember back home. Nice stuff too. We spent a whole half day in Central Park checking out the ice skaters and laughing at the squirrels and just walking and walking - it really is a huge park.

Only problem in New York was that it was cold, but I suppose what can you expect in February. On our last day there we even saw snow which does make the city look that much prettier than it is. All that was forgotten though when we arrived in Mexico to over 30 degrees - yeah!
