Hotel Della Mora ends at the end of an alley, dropping off into one of the ubiquitous canals in Venice.
Skies are black and blue in New York City, at least at the airport! Air Traffic Control wouldn’t let us land initially, so even though we arrived dutifullly to PDX, the nation’s best airport, on time, at 4:45am, our plane didn’t take off until after 7:30am because NY couldn’t handle the toxic combination of bad weather & too many planes.

So here we wait, just after noon, full from fresh smoked salmon from trusty fisherman, and neighbor, (Thanks Dave). Slathering hunks of moist, rich Pacific salmon on a New York bagel filling the whole terminal with incredible smoky sweet scent and earning us more than a few hungry glances our way. We paired it with a local IPA that didn’t have OR hops but did the trick to help us relax and wait for the next leg of our adventure. Our layover isn’t short but excitement builds while we look forward to arriving in Venice for breakfast!
