I don't remember whose idea it was. One of us thought that since we were turning thirty this year, it was high time we saw the world, starting with the Inca Trail in Peru.

We are city girls. In preparation for our trip, we broke in our hiking shoes trekking across the Brooklyn Bridge to Soho, and putting in some serious mileage in the acres of shops there. We did plan to take at least one practice hike to Bear Mountain, but rain.... sleepiness... hangovers.... and other natural disasters seemed to constantly thwart our plans.

So now we're off. One of us has never hiked anything EVER (did I mention we met when we worked together as web designers)? The adventure is ON.
