After sitting in the Mini so much, a little space is a good thing! :)
Tuesday. Driving to Taos, New Mexico.

One can only have so much fun... so we decided to start the day off with the most mundane of activities. We did laundry. I suppose doing laundy in a laundromat in Colorado Springs is much more exciting than doing laundry at home, so it was still an adventure... in a way...

We spent the day driving to Taos, NM. I must have said, "It's beautiful" every 30 minutes. It's so very different. The mountains took my breath away. It was amazing how far you could see. We got off the main highway onto a little two lane road with hardly any traffic on it. The view... wow... and all the pretty little wild flowers lining the edge of the road, the long, flat field that stretches for miles, the towering mountains that rise up. Truly awe-inspiring.

We saw all kinds of new animals (to me that is, Tony has seen them before of course). There were a couple sightings of pronghorn sheep and prairie dogs (not together!). I just saw the prarie dogs once and they are so cute! So small, just hanging out chilling by their little piles. Tony saw

an elk, I missed it. And up in the mountains, on a narrow twisty road, there was a deer just standing there. We slowed and she just watched us, not six feet from Tony's side window. Very cool!

We ended up at the Best Western in Taos which I highly recommend. As it should be, we were lavished with gifts upon arrival. Well, okay, we were handed a promo gift box with things like travel razors, granola bars, chips, and oil of olay samples... but a girl always loves getting a gift! The room was standard but had a wonderful balcony running the length of the building instead of divided up, which made for a nice view. The hotel's buildings were adobe as were pretty much all the buildings out there. It's a really gorgeous style.

This was a day was filled with new animals, new sights, new architecture, and the most amazing drive up into the mountains. My favorite thing about the day was all the pretty new sights. Tony's favorite part of the day was watching the sun set over the mountains from our hotel room balcony. We both loved Taos, go if you get a
