So we decided to head up the highway to Cape Cod. We were going to aim for Provincetown as it was up the Cape quite a way, but then decided on Hyannis instead since it was just under an hour of travel for us. Good decision.
We arrived in town, and we were following the directions when the GPS hiccupped and I continued going straight instead of making a right turn. We ended up at Keyes Memorial Beach in the town of Barnstable. We found a large parking lot right next to some beach access. After we parked the RV we gathered Maggie and walked up onto the beach.
The sand was thick, heavy, and compared to Florida’s, it had a bit more grit. We ambled up to take in the vista. I turned my head to the right, and I saw some regal looking white homes in the distance that I recognized right away. It was the famous “Kennedy Compound”! Happy accident.
I put a beach towel down on the sand and Shelley sat with Maggie while I walked over to the water’s edge to walk in the surf a little bit. Beautiful sand, seaweed and water

The Kennedy Compound is behind me in the distance. all around. Just took it in. The history of the area, and the view - the weather was perfect. It was gorgeous.
For those interested, this article explains Kennedy’s relationship to this area:

We found come city parking in a lot and left the RV there, making our way on foot with Maggie to find a place. We settled on “Spanky’s Clam Shack” located right down beside the marina. Maggie was welcomed with open arms out on the patio, and she was even given a bowl of water to quench her thirst.
Shelley enjoyed a grilled cheese sandwich with fries (no seafood for her!) and I had a small bowl of the New England Clam Chowder with oyster crackers and a local craft beer. Lunch? Cape Cod Fish ‘n Chips - tartar sauce and ‘slaw. We shared a slice of Key Lime pie.
Full now, we hobbled up to Main Street and turned left. We then again accidentally stumbled upon the Kennedy Museum in Hyannis. Shelley groaned….not really. But she DID
leave me to my own devices there with Maggie to walk around while she snooped around at the shops surrounding each side of the street.
The museum was really neat. Personal items, loaned video presentations, and lots of information on the Kennedy family and the surrounding area.
After this, we met up and did some more shopping, picking up a couple of t-shirts and a few other items. Shelley and I couldn’t believe the amount of shops and stores with ‘help wanted’ signs. McDonald’s,
We then returned back to the RV and headed down the highway back towards the camp site making a pit stop at a Walmart Supercentre and Liquor Store to pick up some items, and some wine.
Nearing the corner where we were to turn into the camp site, there was a bad collision that was being attended to by various emergency services. A transport truck looked like it was t-boned by two or more vehicles in the intersection which caused the diesel fuel and oil to be strewn a long distance down the highway. Big cleanup for that one. Our side wasn’t affected, so we were able to turn safely into our
