Here is Ape & I last night in our suite! Good Morning all,
April and I are finally on THE ROAD -- Woo-Hoo! We left home rather late (although early to us..lol) yesterday (around 11:30am I believe). It was beautiful weather outside, we had our I-Pod plugged in, and we were anxious to go! Our first destination was a small one, but a place where we have been dying to go -- Famous Dave's BBQ in Mount Vernon (sp?), New Jersey. I wanted to check it out because I saw a segment on this restaurant one day while flipping through the channels and thought it was the cutest/funkiest little place. The one on TV was made to look like an old fashion BBQ shack/Juke Joint/Roadhouse. Ape & I love stuff like that! Actually, I thought the style was so cute I turned OUR kitchen into a juke joint....lots of neon, blues music playing, red & white checkered table cloth, cool artifacts from our travels (especially route 66 stuff), and our ever growing collection of pigs! LOL! I love decorating....it's so much fun. ANYWAY, back to the original story....Famous Daves. Yes it is a chain, but it did not dissapoint! The inside is a cross between Bugaboo Creek and a

Here is a picture of our living room southern Juke Joint. Really dim, with lots of cool decorations and ambiance. There was blues music playing and you could smell that wood burning fireplace from a mile away! We were seated right away by a very nice waitress who shared lots of info about her life!! Her name is Lisa and she is getting married on May 15 in Central Park to her boyfriend of 14 years! Way to go Lisa! 😊 I was so happy for her. She was soooo nice and down to earth. She was also pregnent and very excited about the arrival of her baby. I told her April and I would pray for no rain on May 15 -- so help me out, OK? 😊
After dinner April and I decided to stay the night in Annapolis, Maryland. Annapolis is the state capitol and one of the top boating areas in the country. I knew there was tons of shops and restaurants. The town was near the ocean so I had always wanted to visit. The thing that REALLY got us there this time was -- the Annapolis Loews Hotel. We are MAJOR Loews fans....we LOVE their properties. We have stayed at many,

Another great view of our room including the 3 properties in Orlando: Royal Pacific Resort, Portofino Bay and Hard Rock Hotel. We just HAD to try this property out. We arrived in Annapolis close to 9pm and started driving up and down the scenic roads. It was dark out, but from what we could see the area was ADORABLE. The shops, cafes, restaurants, inns & b&b's were SO old looking. Like "Sea Shanty" --- it reminded me of a pirate town. Very old, historic, and BEAUTIFUL. Almost like Charleston, SC -- but more brick. It also had a little feel of Newport, RI with the boats and water close by.
We were both tired from our day of driving so we pulled into the Loews to check in. As I was unpacking the car, April went inside to get our room keys. When she came back out she didn't mention anything about the surprise that was in store for us! We started talking to this really nice bell boy about our I-Pod and he walked us up to our room. I stopped in my tracks when I saw the door for our room, #601 --- It was the ADMIRAL'S SUITE!!! Oh baby, he couldn't get

Here is the view from our private Lanai! the door open fast enough. I felt like a little kid on Christmas morning!! My eyes just about popped out of my head when I saw the HUGE living room with FLAT SCREEN TV on the wall, a huge telescope, french doors that opened to our OWN PRIVATE lanai overlooking downtown Annapolis!! I tried to keep my composure as the nice man was going over all the details. April and I are so modest that we must've said over 10 times how we were thinking we'd be staying in a Holiday Inn Express tonight. We didn't want him to think we were rich snobs, because we aren't. What happened was, because I am a platinum Loews member and a travel agent, they upgraded us FREE OF CHARGE to the suite -- WOW!!! I don't even want to think how much this room usually goes for..lol! After the bell boy left April and I squealed and high fived each other. We were like Speck when someone comes in....we ran around each other and all through the suite. We opened the door to our lanai and almost lost our breath at the beautiful view. April then got sucked in to watching TV

Here is another view from the Lanai overlooking Annapolis on the way cool flat screen plasma TV. She was in her own little world after that.... LOL! I was taking pictures and was so excited. When I looked at the bed I swear I heard chimes & a choir of angels singing -- it was like gold surrounded it -- my body knew it was in for a wonderful nights sleep (loews beds are to die for)!
I was kinda hungry since I didn't eat much at Famous Dave's so we ordered a little bit of room service (hey, might as well live it up...lol). I ordered soup and child's grilled cheese (living it up baaaaby..lol). Ape ordered onion rings. It was so nice sitting at our table, with the french doors open overlooking Annapolis with the cool breeze blowing in.
Soon after I went to bed and slept like a baby! From 11:30pm-7:30am (if you know my sleeping habits you know this is a miracle)! 😊 I woke up so refreshed and rearing to go, but alas we both have work to do - so we probably won't get out of here to explore Annapolis until at least 11am. We hate to leave the room since

Yet another great view of the shops from our Lanai. we have late check-out (3pm), BUT, we want to walk around and explore the area before heading to Savannah, GA for the night (or however far we get). It's nice and sunny here and I heard it's raining pretty bad down that way -- but I am anxious to get going! 😊
Til then...
Happy Travels!
