The week in Annapolis July 16th -July17
Monday July 16, 2007
It’s final! Mark and I are now out of the house and staying at the Lowes Hotel in Annapolis, Maryland for the next week. Well, we are kind of out of the house. We were under the impression that the movers were coming today while the movers were under the impression they were moving our house tomorrow. Just a little mix up. It actually turned out to be a blessing since it gave us an extra day to tidy up and tie up loose ends.
Last night we had to say Goodbye to my mom and dad since they are off to Nova Scotia to see her family. We had a nice dinner at Lewnes (if you are near Annapolis, it is a MUST DO). We ate too much steak, (worth feeling stuffed for the night) and then had to say goodbye. I was impressed by the dry eyes, but that changed soon after I was in the car and couldn’t stop crying. (Thank you Krissy for telling me “fun” stories to get me to stop the tears). It is going to be hard living so far away from
my parents. They are the best! BUT, I know I will see them in England and we will be back quite often, so it makes it a bit easier. Well, we are off to dinner with my brother (Joss Sushi—another good Annapolis place). It is so nice to be able to walk to dinner. It’s making me excited to live in a country where you can walk! (Ask me if I still feel the same after about 2 months).
The packers came on Tuesday and finished that day!!! Phew. I don’t know how many days of doing nothing while somebody else packs all our stuff I could take. In the end our tally was 96 boxes, and 1 bike. I cringe every time I think of having to unpack it all. As Aly says, “It’s gotta be done”.
After the movers left we headed to Potomac, MD to have dinner with Jarrett and Kate. We took a nice walk to see the Waterfalls. It was a nice walk and fun to watch the crazy kayakers going down the falls. On the walk, I had a great “Emily moment” and found a tree with an odd shape, is it
my mind or can you see what I saw. (See pic below)
Wednesday was busy but great! I am now a blond with short hair! After my relaxing morning at the salon, I had lunch at Cheeseburger In Paradise with Denise and her mom (who is like a mom to me). Mmm, I’m still thinking about the sweet potato chips they have there. Yummy. After lunch I went to Krissy’s and hung out with her and the dogs. Later that evening, Mark and I went to dinner with Angela’s mom (again, like a mother to me) and Krissy. Krissy, Mark and I then headed to Rams Head where we meet up with peter and his friend Rick. After a day like this I am wondering, “Do I really want to move to a place where I am going to have to work………”
On Thursday Mark had to work, so off I went for another lunch date with Rona and Margie from the School Board. After lunch it was time to say goodbye to the townhouse. It was sad leaving the house since it was the house we lived in when we started our married life and we have had a
great time having friends and family over there. Mark dropped me off at Cheeseburger in Paradise for girl’s night and then went back to the hotel, surprised to find soccer games on TV. (Thank you Beckham) Girl’s night was fun, during the dinner we took a side trip to Maui to be photographed. (See pic below) Ok, so it wasn’t Maui, it was the wall of the restaurant, but Maui sounds better!
Friday: “Good Morning Baltiiiiimooore!” Oh my goodness, I love the movie Hairspray. Today was Kara’s 26th Birthday, so we saw the movie, ‘Hairspray”. I loved it. I wish I could sing the opening song “Good morning Baltimore”(and so does everybody on the hall of our hotel as I couldn’t stop singing it from the top of my lungs). I just can’t stop. We went over to Kara and Steve’s house and had a great time, my stomach still hurts from laughing. Every day gets harder saying goodbye. Tonight we had to say good bye to Kara’s parents. But just like everyone else we will see them in October and when they come to visit.
