loaded up our sea bags and got our "numbers" for the rest of the trip. 1-10.

VINCE is here!!! just in time for the capsizing drill

first dinner on the boat...docked up at home base 😊 anyone remember what that dinner was????

nightly meeting then sleeping in the tent for the night....Lots of snoring!! haha

Day Two - 8/4/09 - leaving dry steady land

Captain's - Rachael (am) Vince (pm)
Wheeler Bay to Deep Cove
6 Miles
2 stops: lunch and stove pick up
General Conditions: Foggy/Slight Wind from the South. 5-10NM

Start our very foggy day with a morning dip and a delicious egg breakfast! thanks Joel and Jeff!

onto the journal...

Good Morning All,
We had our first experience with the morning dip....and we all survived. Following the dip we finished stowing all gear and finally cast off lines and set sail.....I mean row....from Wheeler Bay. Most of the morning has been cool, foggy and very little wind. So we row, row, row the boat to our lunch spot. Just prior to anchoring we were actually able to use our friend the wind and ended up in beautiful False Whitehead Harbor.
After lunch (what did we have for lunch on day one??!? anyone remember? grilled cheese sammy sams maybe?), we finally started sailing woooohoooo! we needed to make a stop to pick up a new stove, so that was our next goal. When we arrived in Crescent Beach it was a maze of boats. With Captain Vince leading up and everyone working together we made out way to the gas dock, where we met Mr. Mississippi. Luke went to exchange the broken stove for the new one in a very quick and discreet exchange. And we were off to Deep Cove after leaving the maze at Crescent Beach. The wind died down when turning into the cove so we paddled in. Anchored, set up the tent and are a DELICIOUS meal, cooked by Jeff and Jeanie and I think the help of Capt Rusty and his secret sauce (Veggie Stir fry with brown rice, yeast gravy and tempeh??). Good Night!

-first tarp set up experience
-night watch instructions and schedules after dinner and the nightly meeting.

Day 3 - 8/5/09 - Survived our first night sleeping on the boat
