The hutus and Tutsis genocide is one that occurred in Rwanda. This took place in the year 1994 and lasted 100 years. It still continues to arise conflict. The tutsis a minority group was first in control and superior to the hutus even though there population was much smaller compared to the hutus. The tutsis were put into higher positions while the tutsis were enslaved and denied human rights. The hutus then overthrew the tutsis and a mass killing of the tutsis was lead on. The killings began the night that the Rwandan President was killed during his flight to sign a peace treaty. People believe that the Hutus were the people who led the killing of the president because they wanted to overthrow all the tutsis and wipe out their race. The hutus went to extreme and gave every Hutu civilian an armed weapon to kill all the tutsis. The United Nations recorded that almost one million people were murdered and a quarter million women were raped.
