Article Title: Sick Inmates Dying Behind Bars Despite Release Program

Where: United States

Who: Inmates and their families

Human Right Being Violated: No unfair detainment

My Reaction: This article makes me feel very angry about the prison system. I feel that if an inmate has a legitimate reason to be able to leave prison due to an illness to be with his/her family, then he/she should be allowed to do so without having to go through an entire system that takes a while to get through. Furthermore, I feel like not enough is being done to have this issue solved. All the changes proposed could take two years? That is too much time for these inmates. This violates the human right of unfair detainment because these inmates have the right to be able to be with their families even if they are criminals. The only solution I have in mind is to allow terminally ill inmates the chance to be with their families whereas other inmates should have to go through the entire process.
