I think the United States does keep the promises made in Native American tribes. After all, under our Constitution states that all treaties made are "the supreme Law of the Land". Our government believes in justice and remains a land of equality. They have faced problems with European countries and couldn't afford war with Indian tribes. This is why they have to keep the treaty, so they can have that trust between them. They need an ally that might be able to help them battle new wars in the future. They still want the land they the Native Americans promised, so they limit some rights. It's vital that they keep the promise to help their own people.
