1. Columbus is known for sailing the ocean blue and dicvovering the americas and till this day we celebrate him and his sucess as a holiday. However, some people are beginning to doubt him as a hero. When hi first came to the americas he encountered indians. Columbus, along with the rest of his crew, treated the indias very poorly, forcing them to convert to chirstianity and treating them with violence and bringing new diseases.

2. My reaction to this is we really shouldn't be celebrating Columbus and refering to him as a hero because he really didn't do any good. He killed people and treated people very poorly and I do not think that is being a hero.

3. This relates to class because we are now learning about people who are traveling around the world in search for things and Columbus was in search for riches and it also describes how pleople encountered new things.
