Hollywood Blvd. My first sunset in Hollywood.
Well it's been two weeks since I left sunny Melbourne, and in this short time I have already worked out one thing. I could NEVER live in any city where 0 degrees Celsius is considered a warm day! I don't know how these native Chicagoans do it, going about their business in such temperatures on a daily basis, but fortunately I don't need to stick around to find out as I leave for Mexico on Sunday.

But don't get me wrong. Apart from the weather, Chicago is beautiful. It reminds me of Melbourne in many ways but on a much grander scale. A much, much grander scale. Because seriously, Chicago is huge. I don't think I'll even begin to scratch the surface of what this city has to offer by the time my two weeks are up. But believe me, I’m giving it a go.

My time in Chicago has been completely different to my time in LA. LA was what one would expect from such a place. Drinking, socialising and a little bit of sightseeing. Chicago on the other hand has been extremely chilled (pun intended). I’ve been lucky enough to stay with Michael’s dad who is a

recording artist and thus I’ve been able to tag along to different gigs at which Michael and his dad have performed. One of these has been a TV gig where I was able to check out the studio and all the production rooms. At this station, there are rooms and rooms of photos which have been signed by every artist who has made an appearance, and I could not believe how many big name musicians have walked through those doors! Very impressive.

The last week and a half in Chicago has been a nice introduction to life as a traveler as I’ve been able to come home to peace, quiet and privacy each night but I’ve still been able to experience an awesome city. I know as soon as I start the backpacker nomadic lifestyle on Sunday with no place to call home, I’m going to look back on this time in Chicago and really appreciate this unique experience.

I’m already missing everyone back in Melbourne. Even though I’ve only been away a relatively short time, you realise pretty quickly how awesome it is to have old friends and family around. I better hear from you all as

I’m always interested to hear what’s going on in Melbourne.

I’ll post a blog from Mexico, but until then……..
