Us before we presented in Jarvill's class!
As usual we got up to an early start. The girls and Heather departed the doors at 7:20 a.m. Jan Straley left the house at about 7 o'clock with Chris and Yen to ride on the boat. They took a cruise around the ocean taking photo's of whales flukes. The rest of us drove to Weimea where the Hawaii Preparatory Academy School is to visit with Gary Jarvill. It is about a 20 minute drive from the house. As arriving into the parking lot, Heather called Mr. Jarvill wondering where he was at. We waited for him to meet us at the parking space between the dorms and the school. When Jarvill came, he gave each and every one of us a huge welcome. We were all so stoked to see our teacher from when we were greenhorns at Edgecumbe. He took us on a long tour of the whole campus. We disturbed a few classrooms to meet with some of the students at the Hawaii boarding school. The high school campus was enormous. It was about double the size of Mount Edgecumbe's. As we were walking around the perimeter, Jarvill had told us that each student pays $37,000 to attend this school a year. After a long stroll around, we attended an assembly. The assembly was basically information about what activities are going on around their campus grounds. We got introduced to the student body by Jarvill. After the school assembly, we gave a presentation to Mr. Jarvill's 9th grade science class. We talked about what our program was about and why we are studying the whales. The class had to take a test, so we kept it short and went shopping. We shopped at a little store till it was time for lunch at the Boarding School. We drove back to campus at about 12pm. Everyone gathed in the cafeteria and ate. Soon after, we've decided to watch their Hula group practice in the Chapel. While watching, Mr. Jarvill asked the students to teach us some basic steps to Hula. After our learnings of Hula, we showed them our Yupik dance. We gathered together and talked about the different cultures surrounding the campus and gave them information about our culture. It was time for the girls to go back to class, so we swam in the pool for an our and a half. Jarvill and Heather taught us how

to properly dive into the water from the surface of the ground. Swimming started to get boring, then we relaxed and sat on the grass watching horse polo. A cute little dog named Pony came by and played with us. The sun was getting to hot and we had to get dinner, so we headed for the grocery store. After getting our supplies and grub, we drove back to the house and cooked dinner. Once everything was prepared, everyone gathered around the table and ate pizza and salad. Study hour came around the corner and we did homework for an hour. That's all folks, goodnight!
