Happy New Year!
Welcome back, everyone! ??? "We're Back in the Saddle Again" ??. Hope you took advantage of the latest blog respite so you're up to traveling again. And HAPPY NEW YEAR to one and all. I tried watching the ball drop but gave up at 10:45. This has become my norm. Cory didn't even try. He was out for the count @ 10:00. When we dated, we went to the Blue Moon Bar & Grill in Hornell, N.Y. for New Year's Eve. When the clock struck midnight, we kissed for 14 minutes straight cause 14 is Cory's lucky number.......awwwwww. Fortunately, it wasn't 314 or we would have fish trout lips!! 51 years does make a few changes. We haven't gone back.

On Tuesday morning (29th), we arrived early in the day to the LaQuinta Inn (Hickory, NC) and checked in. Nasty rain most of the time so we were glad to stop for a few days. Cory put the RV along the parking lot edge where it will remain until Saturday (departure day). Lulu ran (best she can) into our beautiful room. We have stayed here before...it is perfect for us in accommodations and proximity to our son, Cory. They used

to have a fabulous seafood restaurant and bar attached to this hotel but it has moved down the road. Rats. Once settled, we headed off to Cory's home in Conover, NC. It was so wonderful to see him. Our times together are not often enough nor long enough so we cherish these moments immensely. Cory has been through a lot of late. He has lost weight but he said he likes being where he's at. He looks good but I tried to fatten him up a bit just because that's what mothers are supposed to do. He did gain a couple pounds. The grandchildren are all good. Rachael, a junior in college, is a beautiful, sweet young woman who loves her horse, Grey Boy. Her horse is boarded on a horse ranch about 30 miles away. Fox is a senior in high school. He is an excellent motor cross bike rider but right now he has his attention all on his "horse"....a Mustang car. Shenen is a freshman in school. He is the sweetest guy, ever. His passion is gaming on his X-Box and other machines. He plays with other gamers using a headset and microphone. When he does that,

The grandchildren love Lulu
it reminds me of the guys on The Big Bang Theory (my very favorite show). They all keep themselves busy with "coming & going" or just doing what they enjoy around the house. Cory took the week off to be available to everyone. He is such a sweet guy and always thinking about everyone else. He needs to think of himself for awhile. Lulu loves them! I wish you could meet them all. Shenen suggested the first night we go out to eat at my favorite restaurant that moved out of the hotel: The Harbor Inn. Hooray....Perfect ......the food was just as scrumptious as I remembered but way too much. Shenen and I ordered the catfish and it looked like they served us the entire day's catch ...mounded a foot high on our plates. We took home more food than what we could eat. Even Lulu couldn't get it all down. Wish we could have funneled some off to you.

We stayed pretty busy working with Cory around his house. Why is it that I hate to clean around our house but find it a fun challenge to organize and clean someone else's place...why is it? He has wonderful, slide out cupboards in his kitchen. Oh, how I envied this....I don't even have a drawer to pull out at our house except for a couple small ones in a rolling kitchen cart. Feel sorry for me? I hope so. Because his home is so big, I didn't get to everything I wanted to but it was a start. His place wasn't bad....just so big that it took us the 3 days. Now, Cory and I shall live in our 37' RV for 4 months which is like one small room in his house. What an extreme. Only takes a half day to clean the RV ....that's nice but not as much fun. Lulu gave it her best shot but obviously, she is quite limited as to how much she can contribute to the cause. She's a good support person. She always wanted to be a cheer-leader. Rah-Rah!

We cooked in mostly but made several trips to Wal-Mart. My fave....'member? I use the Wal-Mart Savings Catcher app. You simply scan your receipt and it will check all surrounding stores for prices cheaper than what you paid at Wal-Mart. If any are found, they credit the difference to you in

Lulu found a new girlfriend
this account and you can redeem it through their gift card. So far, I have saved $22 in less than a year. Just being thrifty. Senior citizens are big on this, you know.

We had to say our "good-byes" last night. I don't handle them well...blubbering like a slobbering, drooling fool. We just will miss them so much. Just a minute, I have to compose myself....rats, now Lulu has started bawling. Thank heavens for Kleenex or we would be plastered with tears and drool and mucus. We're better now....sniffle, sniffle. Once back at the hotel, Cory hooked up our car to the RV. Cold outside! But we are in "North" Carolina so maybe that's why.

Left the LaQuinta at 7:45 this morning and headed to Statesville, NC. Cory had made an appointment with a Camping World there to get us dewinterized. They also checked our tires and lights (the other day, when driving to LaQuinta, I followed behind in the car and noticed no lights on the RV- rats)... A loose wire that Cory fixed but wanted checked. Tires okay...one needed a little air. Nothing obvious seen that caused that wretched, horrific rocking episode.....remember? Moving on (Cory keeps

telling me to forget it) so I am........A nice waiting room to relax in after shopping through their store...bought nothing. OMG....am I sick? I must be. Call an ambulance. Lulu picked out her favorite chair but Cory wouldn't buy it for her. She's pouting now. She gets like that sometimes if she doesn't get her way. Moody Blues Lulu we call her. Cory called Tropical Palms to double check that our site is waiting for us on January 4th. I insisted and he obliged......nice guy. Yes, they have it ready and waiting for us. You'd think the King & Queen of Shongoraimia were arriving with all the prep work. Of course, remember who amongst us really thinks she's a queen: Miss Lulu, herself. So vain!

At 11:00 AM, we were back on the highway and heading south. Brrrr.....we need to go south....I didn't check the temperature but it was cold today....heavy coat and mittens weather. Glad we don't have to bother with them for Miss Pout Face. Typical travel day....b-o-r-i-n-g! Somewhere in South Carolina, Cory got on I-95 south. That changed the scenario .....a monster moving parking lot....both going north and south. The truckers described it differently in more choice words....they said it has been like this for 2 weeks. Unreal.....only a couple times did it lighten up some but then back to a crawl. I like crawling better than speeding but heavy foot Bucky get restless. Lulu tries to settle him down with her comforting words and soothing voice but he doesn't give her much attention .....too mumbly about the traffic....using some trucker terminology at times. Lulu covers her ears. She's a sensitive and sweet gal.

We finally made it to Georgia and found a motel soon after. We could sleep in our RV since it has been dewinterized. But too lazy today. BUT.....we probably should have (I hate when I end a sentence with a preposition). I always do a thorough inspection of the room .....kind of a fetish I have. YOW! YEW! As I removed all the bedding, I found a small, curly, dark hair under one pillow AND it wasn't one of ours!! I took a picture of it. We immediately had a room change. One hair is one too many. Yucky! Second room passed my eagle eye inspection. We always throw Lulu in the room first and if she doesn't drop over, we

go in. She has to be of some help to us...no free-loaders here. We shall definitely sleep in the RV tomorrow night. I miss our own bed plus it's a pain hauling our stuff in and out of a motel plus this last episode has scarred me badly. On a more positive note - We found a nice seafood restaurant next to our motel. We debated about having the lobster but it seemed a tad too stiff. It was one big sea creature, though. I had one of my favorites: calamari. They served them with banana peppers so half the time I was eating peppers while thinking they were calamari. They were battered and all looked the same "Suck it up" as we have been known to say.

It's time to say "good night".......good night. We'll see you in the morning. We'll be in Florida sometime tomorrow. Yippee. Lulu is jumping up and down (best she can).....can you see her?
