Drew & Olvia
waiting for the bus I arrived by bus on Wednesday night in Newtown, Connecticut. I was so excited to see Shelley waiting for me when the bus pulled in! Jason had just gotten back into town and was at home with all the kids. They were all hiding when I got there and one by one I found them, they screamed and giggled, and we hugged. I love those kids and it was so fun to see them! They kids were off to bed and Shelley, Jason, and I ordered Chinese food and hung out for a bit. They moved to Connecticut in December and have been buried in snow the majority of the time. They have a beautiful home with creaky wood floors and 2 acres of yard! It was so fun to just hang out, relax, and play with the kids. Thursday morning I hung out with Eloise, who didn't have pre-school that day. We took Drew and Olivia down to the bus and saw them off. Then we played and hung out until Shelley and Isaac got home. Eloise, Isaac, and I played outside on the swings, with chalk, and tried to avoid all the mayflies(?) that are super pesky. I remember
all the bugs from the summer I lived in Massachusetts. Olivia and Drew got home and not long after Jason came home after picking up Jeanne from the train station. Jeanne is living in NYC for a month or so, and it happened to be at the same time I was visiting so I'm so glad I got to see her! We all relaxed, hung out, ate, watched American Idol, and called it a night.
Friday morning I got to drive Isaac and Eloise to their preschool. The were so excited and sweet. I'm not sure I know any sweeter kids! Isaac would ask to hold my hand, sit by me in the car, continually shared his Easter candy with me, and kept telling me not to leave again 😞 I wanted to stay another week and go to Disney World with them!!! Ha ha but...in the real world, I need to have a job.
Shelley, Jeanne, the little ones and I went to lunch at Friendlys, a northeastern restaurant that has endless ice cream options. That was super good and then we went back to the house, watched Tangled, played "Just Dance" (i think it's called) on
the Wii and then it was already time to say bye. It was a short visit but I'm SO glad I got to see them and relax and just hang out! Now they're off to Disney in a couple days! So fun!!!
Shelley and Olivia dropped Jeanne and I at the train station and we literally walked straight on the train, almost missed it! We took the train into NYC which was a first time for me. It was neat to go into the city that way. I loved seeing the old buildings and towns and water on the way in. Jeanne and I arrived at Grand Central, which was ALSO a first for me. I'm so glad I saw it because it's massive and beautiful! At the same time, Nyrie was arriving to Penn Station from Jersey to meet us. Jeanne and I came up in Times Square and I was so excited and overwhelmed to be there! Suddenly, I was like "how did I get here? where am I going? and why? and how?" ha ha!!! I was only in Times Square for about 15 minutes and they were spent walking to meet Nyrie but it was
still exciting. It's amazing how there are people from EVERYWHERE in the world there. It was so bright and exciting and I could have stayed for a week! Lucky Jeanne!!!! She is there all month going to shows and soaking it all in!
Jeanne, Nyrie, and I found a pub somewhere between Penn and Grand and had a nice dinner. I was glad that Nyrie and Jeanne could meet after hearing about each other for a long while. After dinner we said goodbye to Jeanne, (goodbye for a year!) and headed back to Penn Station. It was a short trip to the city but I'm glad I got to go at all!
