East (?) to Alaska

We bought "Sweet Thing", our 2007 36' Pacifica diesel pusher, on October 21, 2006. Retirement was just 7 months away and we wanted to be ready to hit-the-road. Well, it's been 3 years and 6 surgeries since retirement, but the day is finally here. We've managed to load virtually the entire contents of a 2400 square foot house into a 300 square foot RV. All that's left in the refrigerator is a over-sized jar of sun-dried tomatoes and 2 jars of Claussen pickles. And the only clothes left in the closet are the ones that don't fit anymore...and I almost packed them too just in case I eat-my-way to Alaska. You can't anticipate what side effects ("eating") might occur when 2 people are living in a box for an extended period of time. Good thing we didn't pack a weapon. 😊

We left this morning and drove only as far as Mesquite, Nevada. It doesn't yet feel like we're headed to Alaska, especially since we drove east across desert landscape instead of the usual northerly direction. But the reason for that will become clear soon.
