Making a plan of attack....Making a plan of attack....Making a plan of attack....

Thank heavens for Michael, our engineer, who knew exactly how to lift this roof Dave built without any of us killing ourselves!

Let's just start this entry with it won't be as funny as the previous ones. My sense of humor is a little stressed at the moment. The corral and shade structure were built but I think everybody, including us, paid a heavy price. This construction job wasn't the kind of thing a bunch of family over 50 should do (per Michael, a structural engineer who was helping) but we gave it our best shot and it turned out pretty good. No barn was erected since we all ran out of muscles, energy and time which is probably a good thing considering what happened next.

Made it to our campsite for a week of relaxation which lasted about 18 hours when I had to call an ambulance for my Dave. He was diagnosed with sever dehydration and exhaustion which kicked off more medical issues, one which required a catheter. Now that was a real plus for my guy since he no longer had to get out of his sleeping bag to pee. Not fair in my opinion but I gotta give him this one. We found the humor in it. Once he had that removed, the healing process didn't go quite

Need a bracer board and she's good!
as quickly as we had hoped so we get to stay in Ukiah for another week.

Even though this is financially crippling for us, the people in this town are absolutely the best people on earth. First the emergency room staff were awesome and even kept him in for an extra hour until our rental car was ready for us to head back to camp. His specialist made room for him on 12 hours notice and has seen him three times already supplying all the medication and supplies for free since it's all new medication on the market and would cost us a fortune. Motel 6 found us a room on a holiday weekend within an hour and Quality Inn cut our room rate in half for the next week. By far the biggest shout out I have is for Jim (the manager and I think owner) of Harley Davidson Ukiah and his good friend Sandy. The bike and trailer had to be brought into town and Jim found me Sandy within a half hour to go out and bring her back to the motel. There are such wonderful people in this world, we have been so blessed this happened
Stringing the cable....Stringing the cable....Stringing the cable....

Once Dave showed them how, they did it perfectly..... Unfortunately, Lori's measuring skills were a titch off and we ended up short a couple of feet which made for a nice tantrum (no not me) which they heard all the way in Garberville....
here.

It seems this has made our adventure a little difficult to carry on so we will be heading straight to Texas where VA will get my Dave back up and running in no time. We both can't wait get back to our tent but for now, we'll deal with what life has given us and be grateful for every day we have, especially every day we have each other.
