Packing over a period of two days is a great way to make sure that you have everything. Rushing to pack the night before, as rushing in to anything leaves room for error. Having a luggage scale really helps, though the only way I could actually get 50 pounds into my luggage is to put a 50 pound weight into it, it's just not big enough to fit that much. I have been to Germany many times, but this has that potential to be the trip of a lifetime, one of those lifechanging events.
