Check out this Sushi !
Emily enjoying the first sushi of the trip ! I know you won't believe this but we have another precious addition to the family ! I would like to send out a big congratulations to my cousin Misty who gave birth to a beautiful, healthy, 4 lb. 11 oz., 17 1/2 in. long, baby girl today !! She named her Gennia Louise Rhyne in honor of her Mother (my Mother's sister) who passed away last May. Today is a very special day for Misty, my Mother and our family. Please pray for Misty and Little Nina so that they may have a comfortable stay in the hospital and come home safely.
It looks like we've missed a lot of stuff at home being on this trip. We've missed Father's Day, Anthony's Birthday, Hunter's Birthday, Caiden's Birth and now Gennia's birth. Ya'll have got to quit having so much fun without us !!
Monday morning started off with very long hot showers (wonderful !) at the Candlestick RV Park followed by some research on the computer. Once I retrieved the computer from the oven (this is where we keep the computers and accessories while they are not in use), I began mapping out a plan for the day. As
Sushi is Kayla's Favorite !
She could eat sushi three times a day ! soon as I had the itinerary completed, we made our way to Enterprise to rent a mid-sized car for the day. Just like your typical tourist, we had a full day planned and we needed to get started right away but first we had to get something to eat. We went to a local Chinese/Japanese place that the gentleman at Enterprise recommended to us. The girls feasted on sushi while Tim enjoyed his sesame beef. I ordered the teriyaki chicken but after it arrived I couldn't eat it. It kinda looked like chicken but after what I had witnessed in Chinatown yesterday I just couldn't be sure, so I opted not to eat it. However, I did eat the white rice because there was no doubt in my mind that it was definitely rice ! We left there and made our way to Twin Peaks which is supposed to offer sweeping views of the city but it was so foggy today we could hardly see anything. Next, we made our way over to the Golden Gate Park. This is the largest man-made park in the world with lakes, waterfalls, bridges, gardens, open lawns and trails. There must have been hundreds
Twin Peaks !
Not much of a view from the top of Twin Peaks ! of people riding bikes, jogging and playing in the park. It seemed like a very relaxing place to be. After leaving the park area we made our way over to the Coit Tower. This monument is shaped like the nozzle of a fire hose and was built as a memorial to volunteer firemen. Ms. Lillie Hitchcock Coit left the funds for this tower to be constructed so it is named after her. When we left the Coit Tower we headed down to the Embarcadero Waterfront area where we saw the Ferry Building. Behind this building you will find ferry terminals that give access to numerous destinations around the Bay. This is also where you will find the farmer's market set up four days a week. We took a few pictures and then continued on our self-guided tour of the city which led us to Lombard Street. For those of you who do not know about Lombard Street, it is known for being the "crookedest" street in San Francisco. We circled around to the top of the street and then made our way down the eight hairpin turns that are on 40 degree slopes. It was short but it was neat
Top of Twin Peaks !
It was way too foggy to see anything ! and definitely something you can't leave San Francisco without doing. We continued on into downtown and went by the Grace Cathedral. I had to take a couple of pictures from the car because the traffic was so bad and we couldn't find a parking space. We were well into rush hour by now and so we decided to head back down to the pier area and walk through the Fisherman's Wharf. Once we arrived there the girls decided they wanted to go through the aquarium so we purchased tickets and headed over to see the sharks. I think this was the highlight of the day for Kayla and Emily perhaps because most of the day was spent in the car sightseeing. By the time we finished touring the aquarium it was getting late and we needed to get dinner and head back to Candlestick. We drove around for a while and finally settled on dinner at Houston's. I don't know if it's because I didn't eat my lunch and I was starving or what but the food was wonderful. We indulged ourselves with fillet and pork-chops and once we were full we made our way back home. The girls talked
Great Storage Area !
We figured if we weren't going to use it for cooking at least we could store the computers in it while they're not being used so they don't end up in the floor ! us into two more rounds of Phase 10 and then we were all fast asleep. Finally, we're off to Alcatraz tomorrow and we are all excited about what we'll see. I must say that I absolutely LOVE San Francisco and it's my favorite destination of the trip so far !
