that is me promise! NOTE : Im sorry there are only 3 pictures of San Francisco here, but this computer will not let me upload anymore - more will be here asap!
Sorry this is late being posted but.....AT LAST!!! I have my first bit of sunburn! This must mean that there is lots of sun, and you are correct....California staetd off with a bang - San Francisco was great for sun.
We flew from Vancouver into San Francisco International Airport and caught what is called the 'BART' to central San Fran. It was actually quite a shock to the system as Vancouver was a relaxed place to be, and me and Andy didn't feel on guard at all. Then we arrived in San Francisco and it is busy, crowded and less safe, we were suprised to see the largest amount of homeless people here than anywhere else so far! We decided to walk from San Fran station to our hostel, which was a bit stupid as it was over 10 blocks! But we made it eventually, and checked in to our room with ensuite, nice.
By now it was late in the afternoon, so we spent some time doing postcards/diarys/guitar
playing, then tried to find somewhere for dinner. Sadly our hostel wasn't in the most central part of San Francisco (even being called San Francisco) so we had to walk for a good 15 minutes to try and find somewhere. We found a classic American pizza place, and ordered a large pizza to scoff down, this did the trick. We went back to the hostel and started playing on the free Fuzzball table and after a few games these two guys started hanging round us, and we asked if they wanted to have a game with us. This was quite cool, and we had loads of fun. They were from Sweden and were travelling as well, doing the same kinda thing as us, but we had a much better idea of what we were doing than them by the sounds of it. It was fun meeting new people and beating them at fuzzball. We both slept well except for a loud fire engine going past at 2am (de javu!)
Our main day in San Fran started well and we decided that the main thing that we wanted to do was cycle the Golden Gate Bridge. We caught a bus
Andy in San Fran
Andy on the esplanade close to Alcatraz to Fisherman's Wharf and found a place to hire bikes, filled out all the forms and started on our epic journey. There is a specific route that everyone takes that goes along the bay, onto and over the bridge and then through Sausalito and finally ending in Tiburon. It was a fantastic day and we had so much fun, taking so many pictures of each other, the bridge and some beautiful views of San Francisco bay.
We really got into the cycling and actually went of the main route at one paint, and added another 4 miles to the cycle. It was so sunny by this point, and so hot that we were downing water very quickly. The cycle from Sausalito to Tiburon was so tiring and mostly up hill, but we loved it as it was something crazy and new for us to do. It was such a fantastic experience and the best thing we had done to that point, even though we both got very red and slightly burnt. We found out at the end that we had cycled 20 miles, which we both thought was impressive in that heat. After eating at a very posh cafe

cycling on the bridge in Tiburon we caught the ferry back to Fisherman's Wharf.
After handing our bikes back in, we walked around Downtown San Fran a bit more and saw the most wiggly street in the world - exciting ei! We even sat in a nice park in the centre and chatted about everything we had seen that day. After this we went and had a real San Francisco seafood dinner, which was something we both had to do, yummy fresh fish for me and crab for Andy.
The day was capped off most beautifully with an exciting tram ride! It was around 8.30pm, and dark so it was even more fun. It was the famous tram of San Francisco, and we were hanging off the edge for the whole journey. Me and Andy loved every second of it, and it was such a thrill hanging off the tram and speeding down hills! We then jumped off just down the road from our hostel, and realised that they never got us to pay - so free ride...nice!
San Francisco is a beautiful city, so much to do, and we could have stayed there for longer. I am glad that
Park in San Fran
Just one of the parks we only spent 2 days there though as I was ready to move onto the next location. The hostel was very good though, and our room was one of the best hostel rooms so far. The best thing about San Fran though was the sun and heat, especially after being in cold Canada for so long. Bring on more sun in California!
---Pictures will be up soon!---
