Day 37-Alcatraz

Can't wait to get going today even if is to early. We were soon down the dock with tickets in hand and awaiting the departure of yet another cruise but not before we put something in our bellies. Once at Alcatraz we received a safety briefing about the nesting seagulls which were protected and about the very steep incline we needed to walk to reach the top of the compound (This turned out to be a leisurely walk up a slight hill). The prison itself is smaller than expected but well laid out. It was also surprising to see how many civilians had lived on the island and followed apparently normal lives. The view from the island over San Fransisco is stunning to say the least. Once we were back on shore we got some late lunch, Lisa introduced me to the wonder of Jelly Bellys and we went to see the sea lions on pier 36 and then back to the central part of the city by a packed tram for drinks and then bed.
