The Famous Cable Cars
See what I mean about standing on the edge holding on for dear life?! Hello Folks!
Hope you are all well back home? Hope so. Can't believe that I've been gone almost 2.5 months already! I'll be making my way home on Friday 15th June... although that's a few days before I'd originally planned and the reason for that is because I'll be flying home from New York rather than San Fran... I leave for New York tomorrow.
When I arrived in San Fran and I had almost 3 weeks to go before my return flight to the UK so I thought what the hell I may as well go and visit my two friends I've made in NYC! It's good to have friends in nice places let me tell you!.
The first friend Angie I met whilst I was in LA and she is pictured in my LA Limo tour photos. We has such a blast in LA so I can't wait to see her again so we can go and par-tay! The other friend Karyn, I met whilst on the Trek America tour and she's a proper NYC girl... very cool. She lives in a nice area of Brooklyn so I'll be staying at a hostel this week from Wednesday to Friday, then
I visited Crooked Street!
This street attracts so many tourists for being the most crooked street in the world! I'll be spending 3-4 nights at her house and then I'll maybe come back to Downtown NYC.
I may also go up to Montreal in Canada as my friend Sinisa (who I went to San Diego with) is going back home to Montreal for a while so it would also be nice to catch up with him for a few days and see some of the sights in Canada. My 3rd 'plan' may be to go and see my other friend Genna in Washington DC for a couple of days next weekend... although I've no idea what her plans are yet so I'd better get in touch and also work out exactly what I'm doing myself! Talk about fly by the seat of my pants!! haha :o) It's all good though.
So what have I got to talk about today then? Well I've seen some lovely sights here in San Francisco and it is a lovely place. I must admit though that coming here from Vegas (which I loved) was a big shock to the system! I think I'm becoming fond of the crazy ass citys! I love places that wow me in some way and Vegas certainly did that...
I'm told New York will cetainly do the same.
Nonetheless San Francisco has become my 'recovery haven' after the madness of Trek Amercia and Nevada! I've literally been on 'Marie's time' here and been sleeping loads. I thought at one point during the Trek America trip that I may have been getting used to getting 4-5 hrs sleep a night... however it's when you stop that it all hits you, and it hit me here in San Fran. Saying that though and never wanting to miss a party I've had a few crazy nights here at the Hostel downstairs playing pool, listening to loud party music and drinking lots of Southern Comfort and Kahlua! I met these two really lovely Irish guys and we got on fantastically. I think it was because of my Irish roots we had the same crazy sense of humour... and of course the Irish like to have fun! I should know my family are wild!
Anyway the two Irish lads left on Saturday which was probably good for my liver as I've been back in 'recovery!' ever since ha ha.
I've met some really cool people here actually including Anna and Tracey from New Zealand
and Anna from Oz... if you're reading girls...keep in touch :o)
OK so I guess you wanna know what sights I've seen rather than how much I've been like a Zombie... so I've done a City Tour which was cool. It took us up the hills and so I've got really lovely pictures and the views were amazing (check em out). We also visited the mission district and took a look at all the old victorian houses. You wouldn't believe that this is the most expensive place in the whole of the united states to buy property would you! The prices are ridiculous here. We also drove through the Chinese quarter and the North Beach which is the Italian quarter. We drove across the Golden Gate Bridge and went to the Golden Gate Park. I went into the Japenese Tea Gardens which were just fabulous. I took some beautiful photos whilst there so again take a look. The rest of the Golden Gate Park is like no other park I've visited, it's really beautiful, huge, and there's tonnes of things to do there including picnics etc in the nice weather.
Hmmm talking about the weather.... it's freezing here! Maybe it
didn't help me arriving here straight from the Mojave Desert where it was over 100 degress! Man it's the breeze that does it! By all accounts New York has weather in the 80's at the moment, so bring back on the heat :o)... (Sorry I digress!). Back to the sights... I went to Alcatraz by night! Well it's not really by night, you leave at about 6pm and don't come back until 9:45pm so you're in the prison when it gets dark...spooky! I enjoyed the tour over by boat and I managed to get some really good photo's of inside the prison cells etc. I done the audio tour so I was roaming around with my headphones on listening to all the drama unfold! My friends Anna and Tracey were doing the same and at the end we all met up and caught the boat back.
Apart from the usual sights of Fishermans Wharf (which is really good for seafood and stuff), I've been walking around Union Square doing a little bit of shopping (well what do you expect, Macy's had a sale on so don't blame me!! I was just there showing my support for the sale, nothing else!)
Oh yeah and before I forget I've been getting around town on the famous cable cars! They are really cool to ride on, apart from when they're packed and your standing outside on the edge, holding on for dear life :o) All joking aside they really are cool.
I can't really think of anything else to tell you guys at the moment! I'm sure I'll have loads to write about New York, so as usual, watch this space!! :o)
xx
