This last day of our road trip was supposed to about surfing in the self-named surf capital of the US, Huntington Beach (HB). So we spent the night at Sea View Motel (no sea view though), just outside HB. HB definately got the surfing vibe, with loads of surf shops and surfer-friendly prices at the cafes, in addition to the most gourgeous beach.

The morning started well, with offshore winds and glassy 3ft waves, but we needed some breakfast first. An hour later the wind changed to onshore (which turns the surf from glassy to messy), the waves got bigger and conditions were out of our league, unfortunately. So, we spent a couple of hours watching the guys who know how to handle it instead.

Later in the afternoon, in a desperate attempt to get wet, we headed up the cost to Hermosa and Manhattan Beach, hoping it would be a bit more sheltered from the wind. Waves were smaller and less messy. Not a surf board rental shop in sight though, so we walked along the beach for a while, wining about how much we wanted to get just a couple of waves. Found that it didn't help, so we drove up to Hollywood instead. Spent the night on Melrose Avenue and had a couple of drinks on Sunset Boulevard after a nice meal at the Farmers Market in Fairfax.

Next morning, we drove back to Venice Beach to return the car.
