Welcome to our USA road trip blog!

There is currently just less than 12 hours to go before our flight to Los Angeles to begin our holiday.

On arrival we will collect our hire car and then will begin our ~2500mile journey. One of the highlights is likely to be the helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon; however I don't really like heights and so it'll make for an interesting experience. Having said that, it may be safer than Nicky driving on the wrong side of the road. Gulp!

Below is our itinerary:

3-5 June - Los Angeles - 2 nights at 'Omni Los Angeles'
5-6 June - Santa Barbara - 1 night at 'Best Western Plus Pepper Tree Inn'
6-7 June - Monterey - 1 night at 'Best Western Plus Beach Resort Monterey'
7-10 June - San Francisco - 3 nights at 'Holiday Inn Fisherman's Wharf'
10-12 June - Yosemite National Park - 2 nights at 'Yosemite View Lodge'
12-14 June - Las Vegas - 2 nights at 'Bellagio'
14-15 June - Bryce Canyon - 1 night at 'Best Western Ruby's Inn'
15-16 June - Monument Valley - 1 night at 'Goulding's Lodge & Campground'
16-18 June - Grand Canyon - 2 nights at 'Grand Canyon Lodge'
18-19 June - Scottsdale / Phoenix - 1 night at 'Hospitality Suite Resort'
19-21 June - San Diego - 2 nights at 'Bahia Resort Hotel'

Crazy Shelley Cat
Hi all, you are right - after hearing a lot of purring coming from our case, it turns out that Shelley Cat become a stow away. We are now doing the whole celebrity thing in LA and have Shelley Cat on a sparkly lead wandering around the city. Although there are some nice parts of LA (we've yet to see them), there are some really scummy areas. Suddenly you realise how nice Swindon is. As you may have noted from the time, we haven't yet adjusted to the time zones as we've both been looking at the internet for the last hour (it's currently 4am here). Hope you're all ok. It's currently 3am here and we're both wide awake surfing the Web. I don't think we've quite adjusted to the change in time zones! Thanks for leaving us a comment.
