So today was a bit of an 'in-between' day - our only full day back in Hollywood before moving on to Santa Barbara tomorrow. We decided that we would make the most of being back in Hollywood and take a bus down to Beverly Hills to see if we could spot any celebrities!
We woke up at around 8:30, and got showered and ready. Craig wasn't feeling too hungry for some reason (probably due to the cheesecake last night!), so Emma had some cereal which was complimentary at the motel. We came back to the room for a little while and Emma spoke to her family on Skype, and to say Happy Birthday to her Mom as it was her 50th today!
Once we were ready to leave, we walked down to Sunset Boulevard (about a 30 second walk from our hotel) and got on the number 2 bus which would take us all down Sunset Boulevard to Beverly Hills. We had done our research on google maps and noticed that High Voltage tattoos (where LA Ink is filmed) is located just off Sunset, on La Brea Avenue, so we got off there and got a few pictures, although
it wasn't open until 12pm. Craig started to get a bit hungry and he had arranged to Skype with his family at around dinner time, so we ended up in McDonald's again to satisfy needs for both food and free wifi!
Once we were done in there, we walked back up to Sunset Boulevard (having a quick look in LA Ink to see if we could see anyone that we recognised - we couldn't) and got back onto the number 2 bus to continue our journey to Beverly Hills. We got off by the Comedy Store and walked up past most of the buildings that we had been past on the 'Movie Star Homes Tour' a couple of weeks ago. We must have walked a couple of miles before deciding to get back on the bus and carry on up the hills (which were now getting a little steep!).
We weren't too sure where the bus was going to end up, and after a while we realised that we were right in the middle of just loads of biiigg houses and not much else! We got off the bus and tried to find a crossing to get to
the bus stop on the other side to go back, but there was literally NO crossing anywhere, and it was quite a busy (and winding) road! We waited until it went quiet and had to jay-walk (or jay-run!) across the road to get to the bus stop.
Once the bus arrived, we asked the driver if he went by Rodeo Drive (one of the most famous streets in Beverly Hills) and he said that he did. We got off at the top of Rodeo Drive and literally walked down the whole of it, past loads of huge houses probably owned by many different celebrities (although all we saw was a few gardeners), some of which we had drove past in the tour the other week, although we couldn't remember who owned what - they all look very similar!
After walking for what seemed like miles - and with no bus to hop on (obviously celebrities/mega rich people don't go around on buses!), we reached the expensive shops of Beverly Hills. We walked around some more - literally just window shopping - and then waited for the 720 metrobus which would take us to the metro station. We got
on the purple line to Wilshire/Vermont, then got the red line back to our motel at Hollywood/Western.
We relaxed in the room for a while, resting our feet whilst watching some TV and browsing the internet. By around 7pm, we were starting to get hungry again, so we went round to Panda Express round the corner and had some BBQ pork, Beijing beef and rice/noodles for our tea, which was delicious!
We came back to the room and settled down to watch TV again. However, the tap in our bathroom decided that it wasn't going to turn off (it had been playing up anyway but it was just the odd drip before - this time it was full on gushing out!) so we thought that we should go and tell the staff in case the room flooded!
The receptionist came up first and had a little poke at it (we already kind of knew that she wouldn't be able to fix it), followed by the manager, who also was unable to fix it. Finally, a mechanic guy came in (who Craig said looked just like the late wrestler Eddie Guerrero) and eventually fixed it! We thanked him
and could finally relax in our room knowing that we wouldn't wake up to a few feet of water in the room! We watched the first episode of the new series of 'Two and a Half Men' and we're now watching the US version of 'The Office'.
We plan on having a fairly early night so that we are up ready for our train in the morning to Santa Barbara!
