A paved road going about 4 miles into the middle of the salt flats end here. There is nothing except salt flats visible until the distant mountains. A fellow who drove about 12 miles out said there are pylons marking the speedway edges and that during events the sand does get groomed for the racers.

We took the van out on the raceway and took it up to 15 mph not to get all salted up!!
