Area 51 is usually protrayed as a haven for aliens. Let's hope we don't meet any! (Mind you that guy at the garage looked a bit weird!!!)

Having left Vegas our next stop is to be "Death Valley".

We didn't realise "Area 51" was along the way.
This is supposed to be one of the most secretive places in the world!
But there it is, on a notice board - "Last service before Area 51".
(Doesn't sound very top secret to us!)

There are also signs saying:-

"Deadly force is authorized if violators,
who attempt to breach the secured area fail to heed warnings"

Enough said!

Now on to Death Valley.............

First off we have to mention the heat, 120 degrees and rising throughout our visit.
Alas there was a wind, but it was like a fan heater on full power blasting at you!!!!

To say it was an uncomfortable, would be an understatement.
(We now know why the majority of the visitors, visit during the winter)

Must say it was the most incredible place to visit.
It really is understandable, why people are drawn to it.
We have never seen or imagined a place like it.

"If Hell really is a place, it would be here!!!"

Well worth a

is located along Highway 190 between Stovepipe Wells and Beatty Junction (just east of the sand dunes). The plant that gives the area its unique appearance is an evergreen plant, arrow weed (Pluchea sericea). As the common name implies, the plant's woody stocks were used by Native Americans to make arrows.
