Age, wisdom, tired backs, just a much needed vacation – who knows why, but we’ve slowed down. I find that my memory is better – can it be the space taken by work is what is making my memory burp?

Today we have no idea of where we are heading. Definitely in a southerly direction but the options are many and varied. High country for at least this final night of our trip or high tail it home? I think the former.

The only disappointing part of the trip was the wildlife sightings. Not so many. Here they are:

White tail deer – one of them ended up on Bill’s dinner plate last night

Mule deer

Antelope

Crows by the hundreds

Hummingbirds

Blue Heron (Bosque del Apache)

Roadrunners

Finches

Squirrels and chipmunks

Crested jays

Wolf dogs – they only sort of count since they were in captivity

HUUGE Bear scat = glad it was only the scat!

And magnificently on state route 152 a hawk taking off with a snake in its talons. Most incredible to witness.
