Cancun - beach
Looks great? You can't see the huge sky rise hotels behind me though. PICS TO FOLLOW!!
Cusco
Our last day in peru was spent wandering around a few museums in the morning, they were mainly a bit rubbish and in Spanish. So after lunch we decided to find somewhere to sit in the sun and have a few drinks as it was a gorgeous day, a few hours later we got back to the hotel and went to bed ready for a 4:45am start.
Cusco to Cancun
This was definately the worst day of travelling we've had yet, it all started in cusco when we got to the check in desk the woman told us we weren't on the flight and that the whole of our round the world ticket had been cancelled because we had changed the date of our flight to Cusco. Also we had to pay a fee. Not the best thing to hear at 5am. Anyway all of this turned out not to be true - we could have happily throttled her and after nearly an hour of her squinting at her screen and waving tickets and speaking very quickly in Spanish we were checked in. I felt sorry for the huge queue of people behind us! Worse
Cancun
Making a splash at senor frogs. The nightclub with a slide. was to follow though when we got to lima to catch our conecting flight to we sat down having a a bite to eat and realised that our flight from mexico city to cancun left at the exact time we arrived in mexico city - not much chance of catching it then. Added to that we still needed to get our around the world ticket re-issued as we had changed it. We spent the flight to mexico worrying about whether we would be able to get on a flight to cancun and whether we were going to be stranded without our RTW ticket. It all worked out in the end, after a panic stricken run through mexico city airport we got the next flight to cancun for an extra $15 and BA reissued our tickets for us, we got to our hostel in cancun after a long taxi ride and collapsed into bed at 1am, what a day!!
Cancun
We spent our first day in cancun having a look around a couple of the beaches and havinga bite tio eat in one of the clubs/restaurants called senor frogs. In senor frogs they have a water slide from inside the

Off the coast of cancun. The best way to get around was by golf cart. club into the lagoon, with quite a big drop from the slide as well! (see the pic when we get chance to upload it)
On the friday we got the ferry over to isla mujeres, a small island just off cancun. we hired a golf cart and drove around the whole island stopping to look at the turtle breeding farm (bit mean they keep them in really small pools) and to go snorkelling. We got the golf cart back to the hire place in one piece but then I managed to drive it into the back of another parked one right in front of the hire place guy. Sorry mate! After a bit of food and tat shopping we headed back to the mainland and watched the sunset from the roof terrace of our hostel.
We lazed around on saturday as we going out in the evening, we headed out about 9:30pm with everybody from our hostel including a mexican couple, two girls from London and our hosts alejandro and horatio. We got to the club (called cocobongos) and after paying $45 each (drinks included!!) and jumping most of the huge queue got inside. Coco bongos is different

Beach we had to pay to get on! There were loads of tropical fish in the water though. to most clubs as it has shows on most of the night, they had stuff like acrobats, michael jackson, madonna, batman and captain america. Really good and all the drinks were free! The next day was spent recovering and trying to find chinese food, which took two cab rides and several arguements with cab drivers over the price.
We went to chichen itza the next day, it was an early start and we slept most of the way there on the bus. After stopping for a buffet lunch at a hotel nearby we had a guided tour of all the ruins. It turns out that they are mainly a huge calender that the mayans used to predict when the rains would begin and therefore when their crops would start growing. Pretty amazing some of the carvings, and they had a ball game that was a cross between tennis/football/basketball one of the big differences being that if the captain didn't score during the game he had his head chopped off to please the sun god!! A long journey back to to the villa and we were ready for bed as were off diving the next day.
Another early start
Cancun
Villa playa blanca - where we stayed all week. to get to ur scuba diving boat, after much waiting around we set off for the first dive which was just off the coast of cancun, it was an 18m drift dive and by the time I got to the bottom I had used a lot of air already so after about 5mins I had to come up mich managed about 20 mins more and came up. Bit disappointing really. The next dive was much better and a lot shallower loads of fish saw a big barracuda and big black angel fish. After diving we got something to eat and went for a few cocktails in the evening we had a yard of frozen starwberry daquiri - beautiful!
The last day in Cancun was spent frantically trying to book a hostel in LA - nowhere seems to have any rooms free! We found somewhere in downtown eventually and went to bed early as we had ANOTHER early start the next day (it's not easy this travelling business you know).
We're in LA now we picked up our hire car ok - we paid a bit more when we got here and got a V6 Chevy monte carlo woohooo!
Cancun - coco bongo
Out with everybody from the villa at coco bongos nightclub. It's the size of a whale! We had a another bit of a nightmare getting here but we'll put that in the next blog! Stay in touch, Love Jon and Mich.
