Beautiful city
Wow, what a beautiful place. Cincinnati is cold, grey and miserable. We had 4" of snow on Sunday and that was fun, but the leftover snow is not. What I wouldn't give to be able to walk out and enjoy the things that you all are able to do. I love the journal. It makes me want to go visit central Mexico. I am glad Haley & Madison are adjusting and liking their school. It sounds like a really neat one to go to. Looking forward to reading more during your stay.

Awesome Adventures!
Just want to thank you for sharing this site with everyone! It is extremely interesting, I love it! I was merely googling for some information on this city that my friend is from and I found this wealth of informaton and pics that you and your family have shared with us. Thank you so much!

awesome info. we plan to be there too
Your travelblog on your move was the very best info we were able to find in our search for info on living in Queretaro. We are planning our retirement and have looked at several places that we can retire on my husband's megarly retirement benefits. He is forced to retire now due to health issues and on my salary and his benefits we would not be able to survive...we would be able to pay surviving expenses & not medical needs or vise versa. Your pics and other info have clinch it for us except we would like to have an idea of what would be the cost of living for a modest lifestyle ( of course, with modern amenities and 2 bedrooms min. We would greatly appriciate your response. Again, thank you.

Hola Jeff, I love your story...
Hi, I was researching stuff on the internet and for some reason I saw your blog, I found it fascinating! I live in San Diego with my husband Paul who is from washington state, I moved here 5 years ago, but I was raised in Queretaro, I moved out in 2004. All my family lives there and its so interesting to find someone that says such amazing things about my country and I want to thank you. I almost cried when you described Queretaro and all those places where you and your family were. Maybe because I get homesick every month! I miss Queretaro. I actually lived in Jurica and my dad owns Dr Car (the car repair shop in front of the Universidad del valle de Mexico) in Juriquilla, his name is Fernando Gomez, my sister Ana and my brother Fernando work with my dad, I'm not sure if you ever met them, they all speak english very well...haha...they would have been very helpful. I actually did teach english for few months at the International in 2004, I know Ana very well (the junior high principal) I actually designed her house (I'm an architect). So, anyways, I'm glad you guys had fun in my hometown, its an amazing experience to live in a different country right? tell me about it. I'm also glad that you had a positive experience there and hopefully nothing wrong. I just dont like what the news say about Mexico every day and scare people, half of what they say is a lie. Have a good day...I would like to know how the whole experience ended. Veronica B.

LOVED THE BLOG
My husband and I, with 2 adopted Mexican children were house parents for 1 year in 1976 at an orphanage on a small ranch a few miles outside Queretaro. Reading about your experiences made me want to sell our house and move back immediately! We loved living there and in Celaya for 3 years. We traveled to Michoacan several times, and reading about your road trip there brought back so many wonderful memories. Michoacan reminded me of the mountains of Tennessee. We loved Uruapan where we bought a gorgeous little table with handpainted flowers and designs that were laquered after each color. We also loved Patzcuaro and the Island in the lake (as well as the little town of Tzintzuntzan on the way, where we bought a boatload of Mexican pottery and straw Christmas decorations). Maybe when (or if) the housing market goes back up and we can sell our home without taking a great loss, and we'll be able to make the move back to Mexico. (We're retired now and have been dreaming about moving back there.) Thanks so much for the interesting "diary" of your time there. P.S. Although my husband is from a small town near Cynthiana and an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan, we have lived in Cincinnati since our return from Mexico in 1979.

Thank you :)
Gracias. My family is moving to Queretaro in June, actually my husband is coming in a week, and myself and our 3 sons(11,11,16) will be joining him in June. He has been there alot, but I have not, and was a little scared to move blind so to speak. After reading your blog, I felt better, it is so neat to hear how you are adapting to the culture. I find myself becoming excited, and am hoping that our transition is ok too. I google as much as I can every morning before work, to try to learn, and am trying to learn Spanish before I come so that should help. Just wanted to say thank you again, loved hearing about the schools...was a little worried there. Hope you keep the blog going. Your faithful followers, The Power family :)

My Heart will always be in Queretaro!
While Queretaro is my favorite, I love all of Mexico. Since living in Queretaro, we have taken the opportunity to visit many wonderful places in Mexico, and the one consistent is the friendliness and warmth of the Mexican people.
