This war was between Mexico and France. This war took place during 1838-1839. At this period of time, Mexico had just win its independence against Spain, yet Mexico faced other country that wants to take over. The story behind the war started fire the reason that Mexico owed a money (in "pesos" to European nations, which include France. Citizens of France lived in Mexico, and when that debt was issued, France took advantage of Mexico, for their country did not have a strong army or nation that will help Mexico to keep its country protected. Therefore, conflicts between the two countries began to be discussed. France warn Mexico by sending a fleet and by telling them to pay those 600,000 pessos that wete owed. When Santa Anna ask the government to use forces against France, they agree and so war began. Later, Mexico beat France, but because peace was brought, Mexico decided to pay the 600,000 pessos thanks to President Bustamante. This way influence other contries that war was a way to earn or keep land. Its significance is the power of land owning. Mexico go to keep its land. In today's date, Mexicans celebrate May 5/ Cinco de Mayo to honor those who fought for the country that reminds its name as Mexico
