November 23rd, we are up at 4:30AM and headed for Mexico and a much warmer climate. A month of winter was enough .... for now! We arrived in Mexico City, caught a cab and headed to our hotel. We settled in and walked over to visit with Rosa, our former landlady and very close friend. Christmas Decorations in Huatulco

A Sailing Lesson

What a fun time we had setting sail in the 'hobie' sailboat. Our first lesson.

At Volcana Beach

The sand is like a mud and used for mud baths that are claimed to be good for your body. The beach was calm and relaxing.

We travel in style in Chetamul, Mexico to check out the pyramids.

Kinichna Pyramid

Enveloped in the forest we came upon Kinichna pyramid. It is connected to the Dzibanche ruins in the 43 sq km site.

Calakmul Ruins

Calakmul was thought to be the capital of the region and a super power for its day. It is found deep in the jungle of the Peten Basin in southern Mexico.

Calakmul an Ancient Maya City

Maruice, Linda and Mary stop for a rest on the steps of the great pyramid of Calakmul. The great pyramid is 45 m high.

Balamku Ruins

This small site features elaborate plaster facades that have survived since 300BC. This 16.8 m frieze still retains its colorful paint.

Becan Ruins

As the sun sets on Dec 21, 2012 the 'fingers of God' shone UP as the sun slipped behind the horizon. The change of the Mayan calendar arrived uneventfully.....

Maurice and Sawyer read the instructions to get the toy working correctly.
