I'm sitting in one of my favorite coffee shops, a gringo type of place, right on the Malecon. There's a table right by the open window, where my feet can rest on the sill, and I can occasionally lift my eyes from my screen to gaze at the beautiful bay, filled with anchored boats. I say it's a gringo place, not because they speak English, but they play nice coffeehouse music and serve cinnamon rolls, and the free internet is robust enough to allow me to occasionally download a movie in under an hour.
