canada day ottawa

canada day ottawaIt’s July 1st- Canada Day! I woke up this morning to find the city full of red and white. After breakfast we headed to Parliament Hill to see the changing of the guard and experience the opening of the 140th Canada Day. There were thousands of people with hats, shirts, and flags ready to celebrate. After the changing of the guard we walked around the different areas and booths all celebrating the multicultural tradition that makes Canada special. We then took a break and had lunch at the National Art Centre. This evening we will continue with a fireworks show and live music concerts which are taking place all around the city. It really is a big party for everyone.

Hi Melissa, Tell Myles I said thank you for thinking of me. I will post the picture in my classroom when we get back. As far as restaurants...well yesterday I went to an Aboriginal Restaurant where they served food such as buffalo, potato cakes, some local fish, and a rice pudding with wild rice. Tomorrow I will be going to a Quebecois restaurant here in Quebec City. I`ll let you know how it goes. Hope your having a great summer! Sr. Reina
