http://www.heygo.comMy first four with Daniel and what a delightful tour it was starting with a huge number of Canada Geese and Mallards all searching for food in the snow covered grass. Dufferin Islands is a quiet and secluded area not far from Horseshoe Falls and contains several small islands connected by bridges and footpaths. These man-made islands are teeming with life

As we walked along the roadway we heard how the area had been developed from 1794 when permission was granted to erect a saw and grist mill at the eastern end of the islands. This was followed by an iron ore mill constructed in 1796.

The 1900’s was the start of how the area changed.

We stepped onto one of the many islands crisscrossing different trails across the snow. The trees in the sunshine casting shadows as we walked.

We didn’t spot any wild animals but Daniel explained which animals regularly frequent the area, we did however see plenty of birds. Daniel, a keen bird watcher was able to tell us all about the various birds that spend their time in and around the islands.

A beautiful walk with Mother Nature.
