house at Caraquet
not so typical but very imaginative We camped for 4 nights in Black Point which was a camp ground right on the bay. We had hot temperatures but a beautiful brezze off the water most of this time was just relaxing and I met a wonderful Acadien lady who camped at this spot seasonally (meaning all spring and summer). She gave us 8 mackeral they had gone out and caught alot, we cooked them and I discovered I do not like mackeral. However, she also gave us a feed of clams which were great Caraquet, camp grounds were huge but 80 per cent is taken up with seasonal RV's, still there was lots of room for us. Actually we have not had any trouble getting into campgrounds with just 1 or 2 days notice. I suspect the price of fuel is the main cause that people are not traveling especially in the east. During our stay we visited the historic Acadien village. Some of the buildings date back to 1702 and the Acadien people dress in period times and relate how they lived in those days after being abdoned by the french and ignored and hated by the english. They were a very resourceful people and survived

same area with their skills and acquired knowledge from the natives. We spent a whole day walking through the village from the 1700's up to 1947. Chuck even helped to make a rope. The rest of our sight seeing was driving along the coast of the Chaleur Bay and when we left the area back along the Gulf of St Lawerence. The roads have improved and although we had a couple of rainy nights the days continue to be warm. I still have not had my lobster but Shediac is our next stop and it is said to be the lobster capital of the world. Just as a side note it is very noticeable the increase in the amount of people in Quebec and New Brunswick that still smoke. The churches continue to dominate the country side in every little village. The homes may be modest but the churches are not, with their opulent architecture and grand steeples. The architecture of some the homes are quite inventive as are the colours, certainly not boring. Everything is winding down, tourist sights anyway, as fall aproaches and the leaves here are already starting to turn. Look out Shediac I am more than ready for
