Jasper is alot like Banff; both are ski havens and have far too expensive stores. The view is ridiculous here, with more highrise mountains in every eyefull, yet the town seems a tad smaller than Banff if that is possible. The food here is amazing, and the place is quite perfect to being a totally lazy skibum.

The Whistler Inn provided the night's accomadation this time, and it was great. Smack right in downtown (is there one?) with a view to kill. A most memorable meal came just a few doors down at the Jasper Brewary Pub where I feasted on some more tasty meat. Yeah, I can't really get enough of the stuff, and plus since it was a brewary, I had to wash it all down with 2-6 glasses of beer. The candy and chocolate stores are pretty much the same stock as in Banff, and that is a good thing since they all sold yummy things. *Sigh* I tend to spend too much money in these places. Once again the cute ladies walking around were either local ski junkies waiting for the slopes to open, or well to do daughters of important nobodies. I wasn't in the

mood for flirting much...

The only major tourist stop me and my dad took was to a place called Maligne Canyon. It should really be called a gorge actually. What a site it was, watching water drop even farther than the waterfalls in the last entry, carving out a vast canyon which I could jump over. What was cool was seeing all the sheep and goat tracks nearby, being ever so close to a drop that would spell certain death. Crazy sheep. The hike was pretty long and seeing as there was lots of evil ice and slush everywhere, we didn't trek down to the very bottom. We simply got back on the road and drove around to it. The entire place was fantastic with lots of huge icicles hanging everywhere, and I imagine in the spring once all the snow has melted, the total trek to the bottom would be fantastic.

Back in Jasper things were more lazy. Eating dry roasted peanuts, wandering around town when it wasn't raining, and watching hockey games on TV (Oilers won). Good times were had by all. It was a shame to leave, but Edmonton was beckoning us. On the way

out of town we almost ran into a bunch of Bighorn Sheep which I presume were licking the salt off the highway. Or maybe they just liked the taste of asphalt, who knows. A coyote was seen racing across the road as well, and didn't respond to my tarzan calls for friendship. The caribou were hiding this year it seemed as well (well the live ones). Plenty of road kill on the roads, just like any part of rural Canada which is a shame.

I miss the mountains already.
