After a 4 hour drive up the Ice Field Parkway we arrived at Jasper National Park Whistler Campground for a 5 day stay. It is a beautiful campground that is very close to nature. In the early morning we seen Elk walk past the campsites. We were informed that a troublsome bear was wandering through the campground and to be careful. We took side trips to the town of Jasper, Maligne Canyon, Maligne Lake, and Annette Lake. See separate blog entry for day trip to British Columbia (1 hr from Jasper). Finley got to see Despicable Me 3 at the theatre in Jasper. On the last evening Gary took Finley on a Wildlife tour Finley got to see many birds, a herd of female Elk, bull Elk, coyote, mountain sheep and beaver lodges. The tour was led by a retired wildlife photographer. Finley loved the wildlife commentary and asked great questions. There are beautiful mountain scenes in Jasper. Unfortunately, there was a haze over many of the mountain photos caused by smoke from the BC wildfires.
