One thing about spending time in Turkey is that you really get to practice your Turkish. I've found that they really appreciate your effort to speak their language, and it opens up doors to their lives and makes instant connections with the locals. All of this in lieu of the fact that my Turkish is terrible and the phrase I use the most is, "No, thank you."
