TRADITIONAL AMERICAN BREAKFASTTRADITIONAL AMERICAN BREAKFASTTRADITIONAL AMERICAN BREAKFAST

Scambled eggs, toast/jam, french toast and juice.
DAY 62

This morning we had a great breakfast again. Angie had French toast and scramble eggs and more toast and Francine had cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt and Vegimite on toast again, much to Angie's disgust but definitely glad she is not eating this stuff. The main ingredient is yeast extract. And it's suppose to have lots of vitamins and minerals.

Today we are off to Pamlukkale, so we board a bus for the 3 hour trip. We arrive at about noon. We have to find a bus right away that will take us on to Fethiye at around 5:00pm. We check 3 places and take the one that was 5 TL cheaper and offered us a shower when we return from the springs.

It is just a short walk to the base of the mountain. This area is called Pamukkale because of the water springs in this area. They are at 35.6 C and contain a high concentration of calcium carbonate that when it contact the oxygen in the air the calcium carbonate precipates and makes travertine while carbon monoxide evaporates. The reaction is HCO3)+02CACO+CO2+CO+H2O and don't forget!

In order for the travertine to harden

to the white stone it must have a period of drying time. So the spectacular pools that we see in pictures only have water in them on a limited basis. The other pools filled with water have this thick chalky like mud substance that settles on the bottom (a bit like wet plaster). This too would harden to stone if given time to dry.

It is extremely hot today but no idea of the temperature. We ask locals and the don't seem to pay any attention to the heat other than to say, It's hot today. We are glad that we have some water to sit in as we walk up and back down this mystical white wonderland. We get to the bus office and take the showers that were offered by the owner who also runs a small pension (Hotel). Then we walk up the street to find a market to buy a few needed items. In one market Angie sees an old man dancing with his granddaughter and she rushes in to join them. Grandpa quickly grabs Angie and begins to dance with her, twirling her around. We pose for a photo taken by his daughter and

he gives me a big kiss on the cheek. Francine is filming all of this. The little girls dances and sings for Francines' camera. It was great fun!

Then we go back and have lunch across from the bus office and with views up to the travetines. The bus man and owner of the pension comes to get us when the bus arrives.

Someone from the other bus office that we passed on because of price says something to our guy in Turkish and then the owner begins to yell and scream at us. We have no idea what brought on this screaming match. Then he yells at us for taking a shower and Francines tells him we only did so because he offered for us to. But he denies this and calls Francine a liar. Well, Francine calls him the liar and he carries on and things get heated. Angies says to Francine to get her things and lets get out of here. The man's daughter was in the office at the time he said we could use the shower and when he was reminded he got even angrier and kept calling us liars and told us to get out. He threw Francine's water bottle out of the door and thew an Obama pin on the floor. The man actully went psycho. We have that effect on men.

The man at the other bus office were not happy with us either as we had booked through the old man. All we can work out is that the old man took our booking and then expected us to use the bus service of the other compoany to get to the main town to pick up our bus connection. He was being agressing to us to protect himself from the other bus company.

We got on the bus and left for our next adventure.
