This is the spot celebrated over the centuries as the place where Jesus was born.

According to merchants I spoke to, the city was a ghost town and not its normal bustling self because of fear generated by the Trump announcement. Riots did occur in Bethlehem as Palestinians protested.

Only those Arabs with special permits are allowed to enter the city from elsewhere. Palestinian woman presents her pass to security.

Father Anthony led a group from Trinidad and St. Lucia and visited the Lithostrotos beneath the ECCE Homo Convent.

Instead of allowing us to find the restaurant for lunch, they insisted on sharing their home made food with us.

Jeanette and I celebrated this important Jewish feast with others, as guest of a lovely Jewish family whose roots go back a long way, their ancestors having immigrated from Poland.
