our meeting by the sea This morning we had our memorial meeting first on the edge of the sea of Galilee we knew of a nice spot we had seen couple of days ago with grass but when we got there it had just been watered so we couldn't sit on it so we ended up sitting on the rocks right on the edge of the sea but it was still good Pete read Luke 24 and commented on it. one point was when the angels said in v6 Remember how he spoke to you when he was in Galilee, the son of man will be delivered to the hands of sinful men and be crucified and the third day rise again."
then we went back to our rooms and headed off to the Jezreel valley we went down the jordan valley till you get to Beit-shein where the philistines hung up the bodies of saul and Jonathan after they defeated them at Mt. Gilboah we went just past the start of the jezreel valley to go along the hills to the south of the valley which comes to mt. Gilboah on the way we stopped at a lookout from where we could see where

beth-shean where the jezreel valley meets the Jordan valley the Jezreel valley meets the Jordan valley. then a bit further on we stopped at another lookout with a watch tower that we could climb and from here we could see mt Gilboah and part of the hill is completely bare of trees or any shrubs and we noted that it was cursed by David when he said because of the death of Jonathan and Saul nothing would grow where they Fell.
while we were here we had some small planes like crop dusters fly very close to us in the tower and just skim past the trees we thought they may be practicing for flying the Jets, all day we could hear jets most of the day so maybe we were near an airport but we could never see them in the sky must have been too high ??
we had lunch at Harod springs there was hardly anyone there so we had a nice quiet lunch interupted now and then by the jets high above us then we went over to where the spring came out of the ground and james had prepared some notes about the area with the division of the tribes and the

mt Giboah story of gideons 300 men we were so enthralled by the things he said that first Donna-May dropped her bible in the water and then a few minuets later I dropped my camera in (so there may not be any more photos unless I can dry it out and get it working if I cant ill buy a cheep one duty free at the airport before Italy) its pretty warm here at the moment mid 30's so we walked around a bit in the clear spring water
Next stop was Jezreel township which is a tell not very much excavated but it is all fenced off and covers a pretty large area a few acres Ahab had his palace here and Naboth's vineyard was here and if you look up the valley from here west in the distance is mt Carmel where Elijah had the contest with the priests of baal and ran in front of the chariot down this valley to this city and Ahab's palace. from her you can also see mt tabor and endor and nein across the valley
our last stop for today is tell Magiddo one of the most complex tells excavated in

crop duster Israel with 26 layers of cities built on top of each other, this area controlled the trade from assyria in the north to egypt in the south so it was an important strategic location you can clearly see caananite gates and later Solomons gates and later building work by Ahab who built the water supply shaft 70 metres deep and tunnel to bring water into the city, similar to what we saw in jerusalem with hezekiahs tunnel. it was pretty hot here so we didnt stay very long, we headed back around mt tabor to tiberius and made use of a beach pass we had been given to go to Borra Borra beach on the galilee we only had 1 hr before closing but it was enough to cool down, the water is clear and cool but the bottom is rocky so swimming is better than standing in the water and if you do stand still you get a foot massage by the sucker fish.
back to our hotel showered and dinner tonight at Avi's restaurant probably the best we have had in Israel. and only about 100 shekles each about $40 aust.
