We are packing and getting things in order for our trip next week to Israel and Egypt. The news yesterday was not good: a shootout in downtown Jerusalem and a kidnapping of a tourist group in Egypt. I guess this is what they mean by adventure travel.

We visited Israel on the first day of a Muslin holy week. Security was very tight and we had no problems. In Egypt we were the first tourist group after the shooting at the pyramids again lots of security. Just stay with your group and follow directions. You may not want to be as adventurous about finding places to eat and stay at or near your hotel.
